2019 Week Of Literary Activities

July is round the corner! The FEMRITE Week of Literary Activities will begin on Monday 1st July and end on Saturday the 6th of July.

Brief description of the activities:

Monday 1st, 5.30 to 7.30pm: Readers Writers Club special will be held at the FEMRITE courtyard, Plot 147, Kira Road, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. During the event, one member of club will be honored for his/her dedication and contribution to the promotion of reading and writing in the country.

Tuesday 2nd, 6.00pm to 7.30pm: A convening: Poetry and The Female Universe in the Changing Africa; Conversations Across Borders. This will be done in partnership with Afro Women’s poetry project led by Antonelle Sinopoli and Goethe Zentrum Kampala. The venue will be Goethe offices on Bukoto Street, Plot 52, Kamwokya, Kampala.

Wednesday 3rd, 2.30 – 5.00pm: Book Launch; Go Tell Home, a publication from the FEMRITE Poetry Poster Project on the Theme; ‘My Country.’ This will take place at the Uganda museum where art paintings of the portraits of the poems will be exhibited for sell and auction. The paintings will after the launch be re-located to Goethe Zentrum where they will be exhibited for a month. Remember to check in any time! Some of the paintings are from Uganda’s top cream of visual Artists!

Thursday 4th to 5th: School Writing Clinic where members of the Readers Writers Club will visit selected schools and have hands on training with students in creative writing skills.

Saturday: There will be two activities;

The Book Market will be held at the Uganda Museum from to 6pm. This continues to be in partnership with Uganda Society, African Studies Book Store, lantern meet of poets and and Writivism.

The Poetry Night will be held at FEMRITE and will start at 5.30 and end at 8.30pm.
